Donald "Don" Frederick Miller
Evansville, Ind. - Donald "Don" Frederick Miller, 93, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.
Don was born in Hatfield, Indiana on August 21, 1927 to the late Fred and Florence (Duley) Miller. He honorably served in the United States Army in the Philippines. Don retired from Guthrie May and Company after 43 years of service as vice president. He was a member of Salem Church of Darmstadt and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1114. In his earlier years, Don played baseball. With a servant's heart, he enjoyed helping others. Don was a carpenter, building every home he ever lived in and could always be found working outside and gardening. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Betty Jo (Ayer) Miller; daughter, Leslie Beckwith (Ken); son, Wayne Miller (Pat) all of Evansville, IN; sister, Joy Horn; grandchildren, Jason Miller, Casey Miller, Kathy Golzio, Kristen Corrigan, Kenneth Beckwith, Jr. and Kerra Paduano; great grandchildren, Alexa Singleton, Steven Beckwith, Stacy Golzio, John Golzio, Anna Paduano, Brooke Beckwith, Jake Paduano and Shayne Corrigan; great-great grandson, Rowan Singleton; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Leland Miller; brothers-in-law, James Horn and Leland Ayer; and sister-in-law, Billie Ayer.
A celebration of Don's life will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 with Pastor David Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Church of Darmstadt Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will be conducting military honors.
Friends may visit from 10:00 am until service time on Saturday, at the funeral home.
