James R. Roberson

Evansville, Ind. - James R. Roberson, 88, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 12, 2020, at Nature Trail Health Care Center.

James was born in Birdseye, Indiana on July 29, 1932 to the late James and Elsie Roberson. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1953-1955 during the Korean war and earned the rank of Corporal E-4. After his discharge from the Army, James worked the railroad with his brother. He spent many years working in produce and retired from Holiday Health Care where he served as a Janitor for 12 years.

James is survived by the mother of his children, Helen M. (Duffy) Roberson; daughter, Theresa Hoang; son, Jeffrey Roberson (companion, Claudia), James Roberson (companion, Cheryl), and Anthony Roberson (companion, Peggye); brother, Robert Roberson; grandchildren, Jason and Shawn Hoang, Amber, Jeffrey, Gabriel, Victoria, and Anthony Roberson; great-grandchildren, Evan, Anabelle, and Claire Hoang, Ella and Hank Busing; and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his son, Timothy Roberson; his parents; sisters, Jewell Roberson, Fern Baker, and Lorene Johnson; brothers, Charles Roberson, Dallas Polen, and Densil Polen; and son-in-law, Can Hoang.

A celebration of James' life will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the funeral home and again from 10:30 AM until service time on Saturday.

You were a kind man as long as i knew you when we lived down the street from you in the early 80s and then on. I always thought alot of you and know you and Timmy are reunited now. I miss you both.
