Evansville - Marcia Denton Pugh, 94, of Evansville, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born October 16, 1925 in Evansville to the late Anna (Skiles) and William Denton.

Marcia attended Stanley Hall Grade School and Bosse High School. She was a graduate of DePauw University and received her Master's Degree in Education from Indiana University. Marcia taught at Stanley Hall for seven years before she married Dr. Willis Pugh in 1960. She was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Marcia was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and was a past president of the alumni group. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and a board member of the Goodwill Auxiliary.

She had a lifelong interest in antiques and owned Cherishable Antiques for ten years. After she closed her shop, she continued her business in several antique malls. Marcia was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1973 and enjoyed being with her many friends in recovery.

Some of Marcia's fondest memories were of the many weekends spent with her family at their farm in Beech Grove, KY and especially her trip to Italy for her 80th birthday. She was easily identified by her colorful trademark bow she always wore in her hair.

Marcia is survived by her son, Willis (Pamela) Pugh, Jr.; daughter, Ann (Chris) Manning; step son, David (Marcia) Pugh; step daughter, Mary Carolyn Snook; grandchildren, and step grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Willis Pugh; brother, William Skiles Denton; and a nephew, William Skiles Denton, Jr.

At Marcia's request there will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery for the family.

I knew Marcia from her involvement in the community. Although, it had been 20 years since I had seen her I remember vividly wisdom she shared. She was so smart at witty. I enjoyed her exuberant personality. May she rest in peace she was angel on earth. She was always king and a real golden girl. Fly high Marcia!!!
