Robert Jeff Dodson

Evansville, Ind. - Robert Jeff Dodson, 59, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.

Jeff was born in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania on December 10, 1960 to Robert Allen and Jeane (Stevens) Dodson. He graduated from North High School in 1979. Jeff earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1983 and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from the University of Dayton in 1986. While at IU, Jeff was the president of his fraternity, Indiana Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon. His wit, sense of humor, and incredible ability as a storyteller were legendary. Jeff was larger than life with a strong presence, and yet he was kind, gentle and generous to everyone he came in contact with. Above all else, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother and "Poppy" to his grandchildren.

Jeff is survived by his daughter, Madeline Dodson of Evansville, IN; son, Zachary Dodson (Danielle) of Sellersburg, IN; his mother, Jeane (Stevens) Dodson of Evansville, IN; brother, Scott Dodson (Lynae) of Dallas, TX; sister, Andrea Wright (James) of Evansville, IN; and by his grandchildren, Dayton and Dean Dodson. Jeff is also survived by his dearly loved dog, Cooper.

Jeff was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Candice (Garnett) Dodson. They were inseparable in life and are now reunited in death. Jeff was also preceded in death by his father, Robert Allen Dodson.

He was our lawyer and the most kind, considerate, awesome man who went above and beyond his profession to treat you as if you we’re family because he had such a big heart. We will remember him forever cause he made such an impact in our lives that showed us that there are good people out there to be there for you. Thank you for bringing that in our lives! I remember Jeff as a young boy when he worked for my dad, Judge Gene Brooks, at the Federal Building in Evansville. He was always a delightful man to be around. Rest in peace Jeff.
