It has been a year since you passed. Your celebration of life was a truly wonderful and humbling experience. To share your life with family and friends meant so much. To hear the young men you coached, speak of the many ways you changed their lives was exactly what the celebration was about. It was great to have all the coaches and bank family there to support us. I hope everyone knew what a meaningful day it was for us.

Our trip to Colorado and New Mexico to spread you ashes brought back so many memories. This is where we grew up and shared most of our lives together. Again the celebration service was so beautiful with the music by Chrissy and Chris and the young men sharing again the impact you had on their lives. It is comforting to know your ashes were spread in the lake we thought was so beautiful the year before and that each person was able to say their own personal farewell.

I want to thank you for a sharing a life filled with family and fun. Thank you for the adventure that sports brought to our lives, celebrating the victories and surviving the defeats and the many wonderful individuals it allowed us to know.

Thank you for Hayden. He made our life complete. Watching him grow into the young man he has become has been quite a journey. More importantly sharing with him finding his life partner, Candy, has provided us with the daughter we thought we would never have. They are both strong individuals that truly love and care about each other.

I need to thank all those individuals that supported me throughout your illness and passing. Thank you Tommy and Steve for always checking on Danny and making sure I was holding up. You both provided strength to help me through the tough times. Thank you Anna, Lisa and Joel for being that Aztec connection that I could always count on.

Thank you Johnnie for sharing time with Danny. Those last conversations you had with him meant a lot to him.

Thank you to Brian and DD. As brothers, you have always been the rock that I could lean on and would always be there when I needed you.

Thank you Jessica, Dennis and the whole Southern Highlands Bank team for your support and coverage of the banking center when I was not able to be there. I never had to worry about the bank because I knew it was in more the capable hands. Even more important, thank you for your love and support. I will forever be in your debt.

Thanks to all of you that called and sent cards. It meant more to me than you will know. A special thanks to Marilee and Woody for being the special friends I could always count on and still do.

Last but not least, thank you Hayden and Candy. I don't know how I would have gotten through this without you both. This transition has been hard for all of us but we have looked to each other for the strength to get through the tough times and the laughter from the shared memories.

Mikey is our beloved Landseer Newfoundland puppy that is a great companion for the whole family, especially Danny. Numerous times during Danny's final months we went for medical appointments which Hayden would assist Danny out of the house in his wheelchair and into the SUV. Mikey would come out and supervise and then return back into the house with Hayden. When we were taking Danny to the hospital in mid December, Mikey watched as he got into the vehicle but then sat right in front of the passenger door not allowing us to close it. He clearly did not want us to take Danny. Unlike the rest of us, Mikey knew that this would be the last time Danny would leave home.

Mikey continues to search for Danny especially when he finds his scent on something. He misses him like the rest of us do.

Well this is a heavy post, and something I honestly thought I would never have to post. But after the fight that lasted a couple of months, it is something of a relief.

My father, Coach Boyce, passed away this morning. After a couple of months stint in the hospital, not to mention the stubborn fight that he continued to put up (which is so like him), he is finally at rest. I know he was a part of many lives, between his teaching and coaching, I like to believe that he was always a positive influence, forcing people to continuously get better. I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers that I and my family received throughout this time, and continue to receive after hearing the sad news. Hopefully right now Dad has caught some fish, sitting next to a fire on his deck, still telling stories with Grandma and Grandpa, petting Leo while still claiming that he doesn't love him.

I love you so much, Dad, and that won't stop at any point throughout my lifetime. You are the best; I promise I will always remember who I am and what I stand for.

Brought tears to my eyes hearing the fireworks last night, because it meant it was the day that we lost you. It has been too long since we've talked football, heard you tell one of your stories/lies, and most importantly I haven't had daddoo hug. You are so special, you meant so much to so many people. Between Face book, comments on the obituary page, and the celebrations (one being at a bar...of course) it just showed that you affected people in such a positive way. I, along with Mom and Candy Lynn, miss you so damn much.

I will always, and forever, love you with all my being. And I will continue to try and make you proud, and remember who I am.

Coach Danny Boyce will definitely be missed in our little community of Aztec. So many great years of watching film after the game and talking about how to improve next week. I will never forget my friend Linda keeping me lined out on penalty calls during the games and the many laughs had each week. Whether on the road to the next game or at Steve's house following a home game, there was always lots of emotion. Danny's heart, along with the other coaches, was always in it for those kids 100%! Good times, yes, some of the best times. Much love to you Linda, Hayden and CandyLynn.
