It was 1988 when I walked into San Juan Catholic Charities and introduced myself to the manager, Margaret Mathers. She was also the county chair and only active member of the Libertarian Party of San Juan County. I had just joined and was there to help. Over several years we grew the group into the most active county affiliate in the state, at least for a while.
Later, she was employed by the Farmington Daily Times and got me on proof-reading want-ads part-time and learning graphics skills part-time, later full-time. That experience has served me well over the years.
She was a dear friend and have I many fond memories of our work together. So long, Maggie.
