Marvie was a part of the community I grew up in, and that included a sense that as children growing up in that era of the fifties and sixties, we always felt that there were more mothers and fathers than just our own somehow. It was a community where values were instilled at church, at picnics, at play and in each others homes. It seems an idealized view of a small town now, but it was very real for all of us. Service to community and its institutions, (again, church and civic clubs of all stripes) were where this generation created a wonderful community in the post WWII years. Marvie was a key participant in all of that.

Marvie and Bill were great neighbors and friends.
I loved spending time with them. We would often eat pizza and salad while watching World Series baseball games together. Marvie always made the time fun and innovative.
I will miss her tremendously.
