Blanche LaChance Obituary

Blanche Doreen "Shorty" (Nicholson) LaChance, 91, of Gilbert, Ariz., formerly of Farmington, died peacefully at her home Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017 in Gilbert, Ariz. She was born Feb 25, 1925, in Clayton, N.M. to Lena Rosella Hamilton and William (Bill) Ellswoth Nicholson.
Blanche married Dennis LaChance in 1943 in Dalhart, Texas. In 1952, they settled in Farmington where she remained until 2001. Many people remember her working the lunch counter at McClellan's, running the snack bar at Bowlero Lanes and her volunteer work with the Catholic Church. She was well known for her cooking and baked goods.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Frederick LaChance; seven brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Sayers and Renee LaChance, both of Tucson, Ariz.; two granddaughters, Amanda Knight of Mesa, Ariz. and Cassondra Knight of Scottsdale, Ariz.
After almost 50 years of residency, she considered Farmington her home and will be buried with her husband Dennis. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 15 at the Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.

My family will be forever grateful to Shorty for her help with my brother. I loved seeing her at the store on Saturday, or going to her house for a visit. She was always so sweet and caring. She's with Dennis now and the laughter has returned. My deepest sympathy to all the family.
