Barbara passed away on May 25, 2011, in Torrance. She was born on November 12, 1930, in Grand Forks, ND, to Tony and Ethel Vavrosky. She was a 52-year resident of Torrance. Barbara was employed for 20 years with Hughes Aircraft Company, El Segundo, until her retirement in 1985. Barbara had a generous and loving spirit, and will live on in the hearts of her family. She is survived by her husband of 8 years, George Snyder. They were high school sweethearts who reunited 50 years later. Barbara is also survived by her son, David (Ruth Ann) Ploen; daughters, Carol (Ron) Grassl and Jo Ann (Dan) Reese; granddaughters, Rae Ann (Patrick) Fort and Jessica (Jason) Kenny; grandsons, Dale (Christy) Ploen; Darryl Ploen and Brett Grassl; great-grandson, Dean Ploen and great-granddaughter, Tara Kenny. Grandma Barb will be missed greatly. I will always remember my visits to her home and how she welcomed me into the family. My condolences to all her family and friends. Barbara was a remarkable woman. I will miss her.

Barb,was the first to console me when I lost my mom a year ago today.I lived rigt next door for over fifty years,and what a great lady,she taught me so much,like how to laugh at yourself no matter what the situation.My heart goes out to George,Dave.The Twins and all you great folks I met at Georges 80th Birthday party.Great Moms never leave us,Barb recently said to me I guess Im a fixture here,and broke out laughing.You still are Barb You still are!! Barb,was the first to console me when I lost,my mom a year ago today,as her next door neighbor for over fifty years,she taught me many wonderful things,not the least of was to laugh at yourself.Best wishes,and condolences,to George,Dave,THE TWINS and all.

Alan and I were so sorry to learn of Barbara's passing. Our neighborhood will not be the same without her. We want to extend our deepest sympathy to George and the rest of Barbara's family.
