Mrs. Bannister was a good friend and neighbor in Rancho Palos Verdes, near Vista Grande School. I was acquainted with her, her husband Bob, and their son David. We were also PEO sisters, although not in the same chapter. Over the years we exchanged Christmas cards, and she always wrote a lovely note. I admired her and will miss her.

Martha Jane Bannister was one of the first teachers I met when I began teaching at Vista Grande in 1971. I admired how hard she worked (often leaving very late) and her kind, warm manner with her students, parents and fellow teachers. She was truly a gracious and kind person. Love to her family.

I was so sorry to hear of Mrs. Bannister's passing, she was my kindergarten teacher at Vista Grande in 1974. At the time, she was my hero and now that I teach kindergarten, I admire her even more. She was patient, understanding, warm and loving, everything a great teacher needs to be, especially one's first teacher.
