Ray E. Ferrin
Ray E. Ferrin completed his journey on earth on June 3, 2015 to walk with the Lord at the age of 87 with his family at his side. He was born to Ray H and Edna Ferrin on August 3, 1927 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with the family moving to California in his teen years. At 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Philippines following WWII. Together, with his father and brothers, he founded Ferrin Woodworking, Inc. which operated successfully in the South Bay Area for nearly 50 years until retirement. Embracing the great outdoors, along with fishing and hunting, was his favorite pastime throughout his entire life. In 1950, he met and married Joann Concelman, the greatest "catch of his life". Together they raised three children: Rayeann, Ralph and Kathleen. He called Christ Lutheran Church home, serving faithfully for many years and was known for his caring and thoughtful demeanor. Service to the community through many years of membership in Kiwanis and various helpful projects for those in need highlighted his life. He leaves behind his loving wife of 65 years, Joann Ferrin, and his children Rayeann Kliss (Gary), Ralph Ferrin (Connie), and Kathleen Jimenez (Bruce). Also his brother Skip Ferrin, 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Edna, his twin brother Roy and his sister Jean. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Christ Lutheran Church, 28850 S Western Ave, Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca. A Celebration of Life to be held at 11:30am on Tuesday, June 9 at Christ Lutheran Church. Private interment. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.greenhillsmortuary.com. I bet Ray is out walking his dogs right now and wishing we could see him.
Gods light will always be on him - he was one of the bright, shiny, quiet ones. My love goes out to the family.
