In Loving Memory of Stanley "Butch" Maness
Our beloved Husband, Son, Father, Brother, Grandpa and Friend passed away peacefully in his sleep after losing his battle with cancer on May 13, 2015. Born and raised in San Pedro, Butch was a Longshoreman for over 30 years. He really enjoyed driving a crane. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed teaching others to play. He taught a Jr. Golf program at Harbor Park Golf Course and was the assistant coach for the SPHS golf team for a few years while his daughter played for the team. He enjoyed being around the ones he loved, sports, sunsets, gambling and making people laugh with his jokes. He had a heart of gold and would do anything for anyone. Although Butch's passing saddens us all, his memory will live in our hearts forever. Butch is survived by his mother and step father, Cris and John Strasshoffer, his wife Ruth Maness, his daughters Alexis Carlin and Melissa Castaneda, son in laws John Carlin and Ken Castaneda, grandsons Silvano Castaneda and Jace Butch Carlin, as well as numerous family and friends. Visitation will be held at Green Hills Mortuary on Monday, 3-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 19th, at 1pm. I haven't seen Butch in years, but never forgot him! I can still see "them," my older brother, Robert, Butch, Jeff & I forget who else, running out of the back enclosed room in the back of Butch's house laughing & choking ...they had a motorcycle running and filled the entire room up with smoke! A fine group of characters to grow up with! Hope this memory brings a laugh or at least a smile to Chris and Butch's entire family. Good guy and very sorry to hear about this, much love and hugs.

So sorry about Butch's passing. I remember Butch from the neighborhood, growing up as kids. He was a real character. And a really nice person. He had the best dimples. Sending heartfelt condolences.
