Virginia "Lucy" Nicholson, 83, of Connellsville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022. She was born June 28, 1938, in Dunbar Township, a daughter of the late Jacob and Genevieve (Smith) Staszel. Virginia graduated from Dunbar Township High School Class of 1956. She was a member of St. Aloysius RC Church.
Virginia enjoyed spending time with her children. Virginia is survived by a son, Mark Nicholson and wife Mary Ann of Little Summit; three daughters, Luanne Turek and husband Robert of Connellsville, Gina LaPorte and husband Mark of Connellsville, and Tracey Nicholson of Dunbar Township; grandchildren, Candance Mckeen and husband Dave, Eric Brown and wife Kelly and their son Alex, Brent LaPorte, Tommy Bryga, and Trent Bryga; brothers, Paul Staszel of Connellsville, Donald Staszel and wife Emma of Scottdale, Ronald Staszel and wife Mary Jo of Hickory, and Thomas Staszel and wife Suzanne of Little Summit; sisters, Bernadette Rauco and husband Louis of Camp Hill, Ruth Heefner and husband Ray of Harrisburg, and Genevieve Schiffer and husband Wiliam of Lewisberry.
In addition to her parents, Virginia was predeceased by three brothers, James Staszel, John Staszel and Kenneth Staszel, and a sister Mary Miller. Virginia's family would like to thank Amedisys Home Health for the care and compassion they provided.
A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at 10 a.m. in St. Rita RC Church with Fr. Julius Capongpongan as celebrant. EVERYONE IS TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH.
Interment will follow in St. Rita Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME, 123 S. First St., West Side, Connellsville (724-628-9033).
