William P. Amato LAKE KATRINE-William P. Amato, 65, of Lake Katrine, N.Y. and Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Nov. 10th, 2017. Born on July 29, 1952, in New York, N.Y., he was the son of the late Salvatore and Lucienne (Martin) Amato. Bill married Catherine “Cay” Thorley in Westport, N.Y. in 1985, and Cay survives at home. Bill worked as an Elevator Contractor for Otis Elevator for many years. He was a faithful member of Local IUEC #138 based in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. His passion was boating, and would often be found enjoying his time at the Abeel Street Marina in Kingston, N.Y. In addition to his loving wife Cay Amato, he is survived by a brother and sister-in-law; James and Mary Jane Amato of Ardsley, N.Y. and their four sons; and he was particularly fond of his niece, Ashley Hupfl, and two nephews, Frank and Brad Hupfl. Bill is also survived by his extended family, colleagues, and countless friends. Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be made in William’s memory to the DAV.
