ARLINGTON HEIGHTS - Allan Wilson Jr. was born in Chicago on August 21, 1922, to Allan and Celina Annabella (nee Buik) Wilson. He passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights. Mr. Wilson was a WWII Army Air Corps veteran who served as a 1st Lieutenant. He was an air traffic control officer in the United States, Africa and Europe. He earned a BS from the University of Chicago in meteorology and an MBA from Northwestern University. Following his tour of duty, Allan found a career in the financial world. He earned his CPA by examination in the state of Illinois. He worked for The Great Atlantic and Pacific Tea Company, Nachman Corporation, Wallace Press, and the National Tea Company. Finally, he was Chief Financial Officer for Foote, Cone & Belding advertising agency for 15 years before retirement. Allan was a devoted member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, where he spent uncounted volunteer hours. He also spent many hours volunteering in the AARP Tax-Aide Service at the Arlington Heights Library and in the Lutheran Home. He was a distinguished member of the Illinois CPA Society. True to his Scottish roots, Allan was a long-time member of the Illinois St. Andrew Society and an emeritus member of the Clan Gunn Society of North America. Allan looked forward to spending time with his family. He loved taking his children and grandchildren to Northwestern University football games. He was an avid reader and researcher of his family's genealogy. Allan is survived by his spouse of 72 years, Elsie (nee Heller); children, Lydia (William) Falk, Jean and David (Allyson) Wilson; grandchildren, Erik (Julie) Falk, Audrey (James) Lucas, Roger Falk, Lauren, Jonathan and Joseph Wilson; great-grandchildren, Lindsay and Ryan Falk, Matthew and Andrew Manacek. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann (Bert) Nelson; and nephew, Gregory Nelson. Visitation will be Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 1234 North Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. For the health and safety of our guests, precautions, including masks and social distancing, are required in the church. The capacity has been raised to 100 guests. Interment at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Elmhurst. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church or Chicago Scots, 2800 Des Plaines Avenue, North Riverside, IL 60546.
