ST. CHARLES - Carl Philip Erickson of St. Charles passed away suddenly on Friday, January 2, 2015 at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva at age 74. Phil was born on June 17, 1940 in St. Charles and loved growing up in St. Charles. After graduating from St Charles High School he earned an Electrical Engineering Degree from University of Denver. While in Denver he met his wife Ann and began his career, later moving to Alamogordo, New Mexico. The family moved to Addison, IL in the early 1970s and fondly enjoyed spending time with Phil's family in St. Charles once again. After retiring from his distinguished career at Lucent Labs in Naperville, Phil and Ann were thrilled to move back into Phil's childhood home in St. Charles. Phil spent many happy hours during his retirement focusing on his hobbies of researching family genealogy, including his own Swedish roots, St. Charles history, golfing, reading, gardening and spending time with his five grandchildren and two grand dogs Axel and Sydney. Phil is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ann (Kuepper) Erickson, his son Jon (Susan) Erickson of Inverness, IL, his daughter Lisa Erickson of St. Charles, IL and his grandchildren Kyle, Sean and Luke Erickson and Allyson and Jimmy Stoops. He will also be sorely missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Phil was predeceased by his parents Carl Arthur and Ethel Merna Erickson as well as his infant son Todd Phillip Erickson. Visitation will be held Monday, January 5 beginning at 3:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 6:00 PM at Yurs Funeral Home, 405 E. Main Street, St. Charles, IL 60174. Contributions may made be to the family for a tree to be planted in Phil's memory at his favorite golf course.
