ELK GROVE VILLAGE - Funeral Services for Emmett J. Doherty, 53, a resident of Elk Grove Village for 10 years, formerly of Rolling Meadows and Elmwood Park, will be held Friday, April 9, 2021 beginning with prayers at 9:15am at Michaels Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 800 S. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg proceeding to 10am Funeral Mass at St. Julian Eymard Church, Elk Grove Village. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 8 from 4-8pm at the funeral home. Born May 8 1967, in Chicago to the late Robert J. (CPD) and the late Camille (nee Gingotta), he passed away peacefully April 2, 2021 at Loyola University Medical Center. Emmett graduated from Elmwood Park High School. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal and Social Justice from Lewis University, where he met the love of his life, Maureen. He retired after 30 years as a Deputy Sheriff from Cook County Sheriff's Department. He was a proud Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Albert Cardinal Meyer Council. Emmett was a Sports Enthusiast who enjoyed attending both professional and collegiate games and had a unique knowledge of stats on players and teams. He also enjoyed attending family gatherings. He was the loving fiance of Maureen; beloved brother of Colleen (Patrick) Bell, Celeste (Gary) Szmurlo, Charmagne (John) Arnish, the late Robert A. and the late Kevin Patrick; proud uncle of Patrick (Sandy) Bell, Terrence Bell, Christina (Jeff) Landwehr, Mackenzie and Frankie Arnish; fond great-uncle of Katelyn, Jack, Sarah and Ryan Bell, Charlotte Landwehr; dear friend to many. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched. I knew Emmett from the Rolling Meadows courthouse. I will always remember him with a smile on his face and a kind word from his mouth. He was a real gentleman. God bless you, Emmett. Rest in peace with our Lord.

I knew Emmett when my husband and I lived in Plum Grove Village in Rolling Meadows. What a fine young man. Condolences to Maureen and his family.
