Eugene J. Jerzyk of Gilberts Services for Eugene J. Jerzyk, 81, will begin at 11:15 a.m. Saturday, at the Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee, to St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee, for noon Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery, Hampshire. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, at the funeral home. Born Dec. 30, 1923, in Chicago, the son of John and Angeline (nee Bryniarski) Jerzyk, he died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, at Provena-St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Gene worked in manufacturing for most of his professional career. He worked as a product tester. He had formerly worked for Admiral and retired after 39 years of service with Motorola-Panasonic-Matsushita. Gene earned the rank of Sgt. and served with the 82nd Airborne Division, United States Army, during World War II. He was a member of the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, West Dundee. He enjoyed playing golf and woodworking. He is survived by his wife of nearly 28 years, Mary Ann R. (nee Zelencik) Jerzyk, whom he married on Nov. 26, 1977; his children, Eugene (Marcia) Jerzyk and Doreen (Don) Dudek, both of Des Plaines; five grandchildren, Lindsey, Danielle, Gina, Don and Dan; three great-grandchildren, Sarah, Alex and Karley; sisters, Dorothy and Dolores Jerzyk, both of Chicago; brothers, John of Huntley and Flory and Leonard, both of Chicago; three nieces; one nephew; and several friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Karl. Please omit flowers. Memorials may be made to St. Catherine of Siena Church, West Dundee of the American Lung Association.
