I just learned that my favorite rodeo clown of all time (Lecil Harris) passed away in 2020 and it breaks my heart. He made millions laugh with his hilarious antics and jokes many times at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo every year and it just won't ever be the same again. Fortunately, I have a treasured picture of him holding my granddaughter, Averi, and I will hold it close to my heart forever. Rest in peace, Lecil. We loved you.

Condolences and prayers to family. Lecile performed at the Scurry County rodeo in Snyder,Tx for many years in the 70's. My son was born in 1973 on the first performance of the rodeo and his Uncle had named him after Lecile. Lecile surprised me at the hospital for a visit and brought a signed picture of himself. He has always held a special place in our hearts. Rip.

Mr. Harris is responsible for some of my fondest memories. Ive talked about him over and over since the mid 90s when I had the pleasure of seeing him at the Old Fort Days Rodeo in Ft. Smith AR. The man impacted me to the point that I looked for videos of him last year. I cant say why, but very few have had an impact on me like Mr. Harris. For his family I can not imagine the void thats there now that hes gone and you are all in my prayers. Rest Easy Mr. Harris, you deserve the ride, and I cant wait to finally get to shake your hand when I pass thru those pearly gates.

I am sure when those Heavenly Gates opened Lecile felt he was in the most beautiful arena that ever was. Love and peaceful blessings our friend.

February 16, 2020

Courage, skill, and personality--all were required for Lecile to be a successful Rodeo Clown, and successful he was. May the peace of God that surpasses all understanding sustain his loved ones during their time of sorrow, and may the memory of the abounding joy that he brought to his audiences assure you of the many blessings he will enjoy in the future.

I met Lecile during the Rodeo Of The Ozarks rodeo in Springdale Arkansas. He, me and other "cowboys", I use that term loosly for me, jumped in to help the Budwiser Clydesdale team get loose from the fence and gate they got tangled up in when they entered the arena. This was in the 70's. I also saw several of his rodeo performances at Ft Smith etc. He was a nice guy and very, very funny. I saw him get pitched 6 feet in the air once by, I think, one of Bodacious's kin. He got up and took another hit as he got right back between Bo and the cowboy, Jim Shoulders maybe. REST IN PEACE MY FRIEND....YOU HAVE GIVEN MILLIONS A NEEDED LAUGH AND LOOK AT A TRUE HERO ON AND OFF "FIELD"

It was my pleasure to meet you and your son at the 1997 Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo. I was a young reporter and asked you which was harder: fighting bulls or comedy. And I will never forget your answer. You said, "Comedy, because if you get gored by a bull at least there is some dignity of being carried out on your shield. But if a joke bombs....you just want to dig a whole in the dirt and disappear." You will me missed by many, but everyone who met you should be happy to have had the honor. They don't make'em like you anymore.

I met Lecile when I was a little girl. My parents traveled as back ground singers for Loretta Lynn back in the 70's and I met him at a rodeo where she was performing. I remember him being very nice and he gave me an autograph photo. I never forgot that or him. RIP Lecile the Clown!
