John was one of those people that you could count on through thick and thin. He was a pleasure to work with, a true friend and a joy to know. He was sincere and always held your best interests at heart. I will miss him. My deepest sympathy.

I've worked for Sears for a long time, and John was one of the best bosses I ever had, hands down! Very thorough, very caring, very fair. Remembered a lot, and what he didn't remember, he could usually find on one of his legendary yellow legal pads. He was also very funny, although I'm not sure he thought he was. A huge loss, and I will always remember him.

I was saddened to hear of your loss of John. My sympathies to all the Dillon family.

I worked with John in RIM at the Sears Hoffman campus from 1993 until he retired. Every morning and late afternoon, he walked thru the office and spoke to each of us, asking about our day, our weekend plans etc. He cared about us and was genuinely interested in our lives. Some mornings, we were treated to the latest adventures of Aimee and Angie. He was very proud of you girls.

He had his routine - a raisin bagel in his office for breakfast, usually with Jim and Taco Bell tacos for lunch. Every day. He had a fondness for Post-It notes. He wore his crazy, colorful pants from his college days for a Halloween lunch. We anxiously waited for his annual box of buttery caramel at Christmas (I swallowed a crown with that caramel, then brought a piece to my dentist). He was a keen dancer as we were in awe watching him and Joanne trip the lights at a co-workers wedding reception. He was a gentleman.

I will remember John fondly and pray your many wonderful memories comfort you.

John was one of my favorite bosses at Sears. He was fair, generous with praise and always available to help. This was capped off with a wonderful sense of humor! I'm so sorry for the loss his loved ones are feeling.
