She is one of the few teachers that truly inspired learning. Her passion for literature and her connection to her students created lifelong learners. She left this earthly life too soon but left a tremendous legacy. Thank you for touching my life in such a positive way.

I taught with Karen during her last two years at Palatine High School, which were also my first two years as a teacher. Karen was always one to have a smile one her face and was so kind, warm, welcoming, optimistic, and encouraging, all of which meant so much to me as a young, inexperienced teacher. She was definitely one of the good ones!

Karen was one of my mentors as I began my teaching career at Palatine High School. She taught me about how to teach literature and writing at a high level, as well as how to have integrity and moral standards in every aspect of my day with students. Karen was also a great friend. She made me smile every day.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Karen was the Student Council Advisor when I was at PHS and I just loved her. It was so obvious how much she loved and cared about her students. She had a great sense of humor and a happy glow. The world is a better place for her having been in it. May her memory be a blessing.
