Dear Mavis` family,
Esp. Linda, as I got to know Linda when she brought Mavis to the YMCA. I got to know Mavis through the YMCA. We both attended the "silver sneakers" exercise program. I think that might have been at least 5 years ago. She did the swim exercises prior the silver sneakers. I thought wow she is really good with her commitment to exercises...better than I who was probably 20 years younger. I believe she was an inspiration to others...she was to me. As we got to know one another I learned she was really active at her church and in her community. I remember a high light of her life was sharing with me her trip to North Dakota. I was very interested as at one time I lived in Nebraska near the border of North Dakota. The other funny and amusing incident that occurred with us was deciding what to ware to the Y Halloween gathering. I suggested she could come as a senior. She did...all dressed up with a big hat! I came as the "good" witch of silver sneakers. She loved my custom, and always called me "the witch". I loved Mavis, but I know she is in that room Jesus has prepared for her. Janet Sorensen

My deepest sympathy to all of Mavis' family. I had the good fortune to take several classes with Mavis at the YMCA. She was a woman of great kindness and class. She lived life with great joy & to the fullest. I hope the memories that you have will help you through the sadness and make you smile often.
