WILLIAM P. DWYER

William P. Dwyer, age 71, from Downers Grove, IL originally from Wallingford, CT. Beloved husband to Nam Yong (Nancy) Dwyer for 46 loving years. Adored father to George (Julie) Dwyer, Carol (Scott) DeFreitas. Cherished grandfather to Lillian and Paul Dwyer, and Sloane DeFreitas. Caring son to Shirley Dwyer. He was preceded in death by his father John Dwyer and his sister Kathleen Dwyer. Loving brother to Dennis, Thomas, Joseph G. and Patrick Dwyer. Admired uncle to Joseph I. Dwyer. Proud alumnus of Xavier High School, located in Middletown CT and Norwich University in VT. He proudly served in the Army from 1971-1975 as a First Lieutenant, assigned to serve in Korea. He was a licensed Mechanical Engineer who worked in sales for Somes-Nick and CO in Chicago, IL for 41 years. He will be missed dearly by many friends and relatives.

Bill was my cousin and we grew up together, tho we have been separated by time and distance I will always remember him and miss him. My condolences to Shirley and her boys.

I enjoyed working with Bill and found him to be passionate about serving and being a consultant to his customers. His follow-through was second to none and a genuine professional in his field. I will always think of Bill as one who excelled. God Bless him and his loving family.

I did not know him well, we were classmates through the inaugural years at Xavier, he was a member of the real X-Men. From that I do know about the values that were instilled in us, a diploma that was earned and an education that provided a foundation for us to succeed, we were part of an elite group of men. A farewell saying from part of my naval heritage; "Fair winds and following seas." My condolences to the family and friends on their loss.

In 1967, Billy and I were among Xavier High School's first graduating class. He was very skilled in basketball and was a great teammate during our time together playing for the Falcons. More than that, Billy was a very good human being. He was a quiet guy but always shared his opinion when a discussion was going on. His personality was so pleasant that everyone I knew in our class got along with him very well. By his actions, he made the classmates around him better human beings. I saw him only a few times after 1967 during reunions held by and for our class at Xavier. But it seemed very obvious to me that Bill Dwyer had not changed much since our high school years: rock solid, quiet, determined, great personality, and kind.

I am sorry to hear of Billy’s death. Growing up we lived two houses away from one another. I am sure he was well loved in his adult years because he was just that type of person. I hope that your memories of him will sustain you.

Bill was one of my classmates from Norwich University. We reconnected several years ago at one of the Norwich Alumni meetings and learned we lived in close proximity to each other in the Chicagoland area. A good guy who will be missed. Rest in peace and sincere condolences to his family.
