I will miss Carolyn everyday. She was a dear friend and neighbor to so many of us.... and if you had a fur baby she was more than a friend, she was a "grandmother" or "favorite aunt".

When I first met Carolyn I had just gotten my golden retriever Chloe. Carolyn recently lost her precious Muffy and asked if she could come over and meet Chloe as we walked through the through the park near her home. She picked Chloe up in her arms and that was the beginning of a very special relationship. Carolyn used to call Chloe "Miss Adorable" and when Campbell Marie came along (my next Golden) Carolyn loved Campbell but she always said that Chloe had a special place in her heart; that she helped her get over the loss of her Muffy.

Carolyn opened her home to many of us and whether our dogs were wet or dry, clean or dirty, well-behaved or not they were welcomed into her home. We had many long talks about the events of the day and I was privileged to join her Bible study for about a year until they changed the time and I could no longer attend .

We shared a love for the Lord and I know the Carolyn is home with loved ones and God, and we will all be together again one day. My love and prayers go out to her family. Please know that Carolyn will always be remembered in the hearts of many!

My husband and I have lived on the same street as Carolyn for over 30 years. What I will remember most about her were her kindness to my children when they were growing up. She always gave them an Advent calendar for Christmas and one of them we still have to this day. She always would stop by on her walks to say hi to our dogs and carried a pocket full of dog treats to pass out along the way. We will really miss her.

Carolyn was one of our favorite people. We enjoyed meeting her at Nudy's for lunch, and when we found out that she did not take home any leftovers we got her a small microwave. She was a bit hesitant but she mastered it nicely. In fact, she did better with the microwave than she did with the copy machine at school. When Carolyn would mention that she needed to run some papers off there was a look of panic from the other teachers. Someone always offered to do it for her. Carolyn and I drove to school together for many years and I valued her friendship. We will miss a really neat lady.

I had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Stanford several times, when she came down to Washington, DC to visit her daughter, Marcia. Mrs. Stanford was impressive: intelligent, articulate, and humble, but had a steely resolve. I remember the long (really long) walks she used to take, much longer than I could even dream about, much less actually take. More important, she raised two amazing daughters, a testament that lives on, as does her memory in our hearts and minds. She will be missed.
