Just learned today of Ernie's passing - Ernie was first my boss, but became so much more than that to me - a great friend and mentor. Smart, principled and funny - he knew how to enjoy life and will be sorely missed. My condolences to Claudia, Matt and Brian.

Uncle Ernie you were always a hero to me when I was growing up. As a little kid, I sure missed you when you went off to Texas Tech but I still remember days of fishing, feeding cattle, and shooting guns and just being outdoors back in Paris, Texas. Always a man of positive outlook and positive influence, you had a wonderful impact on my life. I looked up to you then and look up to you even now. I wish I could have spent more time around you as a grown man but the distance kept us on different paths. Guns up! Uncle Ernie and Gig'em too!
