George L. Scheibe, age 70, of Gaines PA passed away at home on Friday, September 15, 2017. George was born in West Chester, PA, and resided in Glenmoore PA for most of his life. He graduated from Henderson High School, West Chester PA in 1965. George proudly served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War, the 1st Calvary Division, as an Aircraft Engine and Airframe Specialist from 1966-1969. For almost 40 years, George worked as an heavy equipment technician for Penn Jersey Machinery in Lionville PA. In his spare time, you would find him in his garage restoring a Street Rod. George built several amazing Street Rods, however, his most prized was a 1949 Diamond T, "Diamond in the Rough". He and his late wife, Joyce, enjoyed attending and displaying his cars at various cars shows. They were members of the Hot Rod Club "Cruising Friends". In most recent years, George loved to ride his four wheeler exploring nature and working in the yard with his dog "Duke" at his mountain home in Wellsboro PA.
In addition to his wife, Joyce A. (Hughes) Scheibe, George is preceded in death by his father William H. Scheibe.
George is survived and deeply missed by his two daughters; Kathryn M. Klunk and Kelly M. Scheibe-Chambers (Andrew), his mother Florence (Mahers) Scheibe, two siblings; Gary L. Scheibe (Marita) and Darlene Fenstermacher (Joe), six grandchildren; Steven, Cassidy, Jessee, Bella, Drew, and Taylor, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and companion Virginia Catania.
Relatives and friends are invited to George's Funeral Service on Friday, September 22, 2017, 11AM, at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA 19335, visitation will be held from 9:30AM-10:50AM. Burial will immediately follow to Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA.
