NEWPORT NEWS - Anne Liesmann Clare, 83, died on May 19, 2016. She was born in Dayton Ohio, daughter of Fred and Lillian Liesmann. In 1943, her family moved to Newport News when her father accepted a position with Industrial USO and later established the local YMCA. Anne graduated from NNHS in 1950 and from Otterbein College with a degree in Business Administration in 1954. After graduation, she engaged in an interesting career in this field. In 1961, she married Dr. Kenneth Clare and they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Ken's work as an international economist, and their love of travel, enabled them to live in and travel to many foreign countries. They lived in Northern Virginia before retiring to California. After her husband's death, Anne moved back to her beloved Virginia and enjoyed 3 years at Warwick Forest Retirement Community renewing friendships and making new friends. She is survived by her 3 children Steven, Janice, and Keith and stepsons Ray and Loren. She is also survived by her sister Clara Warren Banks and brother-in-law Bill Banks, and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Anne's life will take place later in the summer.
