NEWPORT NEWS - Belle Rose Mays, 92, of Newport News, Va., passed away April 28, 2011.
She was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Newport News. She retired from Riverside Regional Medical Center as a nurse's aide.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivanhoe Mays.
She is survived by her two daughters, Candance Edgerton of Wilson, N.C., and Brenda Robbins of Medford, Ore.; five grandchildren, Brian Robbins of Newport News, Va., Lori Robbins of Medford, Ore., Jennifer Kautz of Seattle, Wash., Paul Edgerton of Wilson, N.C., and Jason Edgerton of Manassas, Va.; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Micah, Isaac and Elizabeth Edgerton; two sisters, Nancy Hall of Newport News, and Inez Koreniowski of Lyndhurst, N.J.; and one brother, John Ward of Newport News.
Viewing will be held at noon Saturday, April 30, at Peninsula Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.

Our sympathies go out to the Mays and Ivey families. How wonderful that she lived 92 years! That means more wonderful memories. We hope those memories comfort all of you when you miss her.

Dear Candy & Brenda,
Your parents were like grandparents to me. I will always cherish wonderful memories of camping with them, eating spaghetti and playing cards. Many good times and laughter. We loved to hear her laugh, she was always like sunshine. I will keep them forever in my heart.
