POQUOSON - Christine C. Walker, 48, a native of Newport News and resident for the past 15 years of Poquoson, passed away with family by her side Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in her home.
Christine attended Trinity United Methodist Church in Poquoson. She was employed by Food Lion as a receiver for more than 12 years.
Christine was many things to her family; a great southern cook, softball mom and coach to not only her children but so many more who called her "Miss Chris," a Girl Scout leader, teacher's aide to children with disabilities, an "on-the-go-mom" that supported all of her children no matter what the need, and to add to the list of great titles, the joy of being a grandmother to Kailand. Christine will be greatly missed by her beloved husband, loving family, and many great and wonderful friends.
Christine was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Campbell and her cousin, Bettina Landes.
She is survived by her husband of eight years, Jimmy Walker; her children, Raychel Cole and husband, Rob, Jess Evans and wife, Ashley, Birdy Evans, Ashley Walker, Taylor Walker, Logan Walker and Cole Walker; grandchild, Kailand Cole; mother, Patricia Spry and husband, Ed; brother, Wayne Campbell and wife, Karen; sister, Sarah Slaydon and husband, Tony; father-in-law, Jim Walker and wife, Dianne; mother-in-law, Betty Sharp and husband, Terry; stepsister, Ginger McMinnis; stepbrother, Dale Colberly; sister-in-law, Shannon Ferguson and husband, Chris; brothers-in-law, Clint Sharp and Robbie Sharp; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, and other times at her home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson, by the Rev. C. Eugene Meek. Burial will follow at Weston Cemetery.
