POQUOSON - Joseph "J.B." Smith, 77, a native of Baltimore, MD and Poquoson resident for 13 years, passed away at home on Friday, September 8, 2017. He retired in 1980 as a Master Sergeant in the U. S. Air Force after 32 years. He was a member of Trenton Masonic Lodge #109 in Illinois and was a Shriner. J.B. was Santa Claus at Christmas for many years in the area. J.B. was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Page Smith; son, Danny B. Smith; daughter, Kelly Smith Huggett (Brett); step-son, Kerry Williams; step-daughter, Kim Zidenberg; sister, Phyllis Pitarra; brother, Chris Smith; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 15, 1:30 PM, at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens, Hampton, with full military honors.
