POQUOSON - G. Curtis Overman, Jr. 75, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016. He was born September 22, 1941 in Newport News, VA where he resided until moving to Poquoson with his family in 1979. He was the son of the late George C. Overman and Margaret J. Overman of Newport News. He grew up in Newport News and graduated from Newport News High School in 1959. He attended the College of William and Mary, where he was awarded BA ('63) and Juris Doctor (JD) ('66). He practiced law in Newport News until his retirement in 2006. He was a past member of the Newport News Bar Association and the York-Poquoson Bar Association where he served as president for a term. He was a member of several professional and service organizations and he enjoyed a variety of hobbies and past times. Amongst his favorites were fishing in the Poquoson River, riding motorcycles, shooting at the Lafayette Gun Club (where he was a life member), and his affiliation with several amateur/HAM radio clubs. He was also an active member of the W&M Quarterback Club. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret F. Overman; son Curt and his wife Anne and their children Will and Katie, of Mechanicsville ,VA; son Bryan and his wife Olivia and their children Kavan and Rowan, of Fairfax Station, VA and his dog Chumlee. The family will receive friends at the Peninsula Funeral Home on Wednesday November 9, 2016 from 6 - 7:30 PM. A funeral service will be held at the Peninsula Funeral Home on Thursday November 10, at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
