WINDSOR, CONN. - Lorraine C. Ferguson, 91, of Windsor, beloved wife of the late Philip T. Ferguson, died peacefully on Monday, Jan. 2, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford.
She was born on June 7, 1920, in Newport News, Va., daughter of the late Clyde and Bessie (Whitney) Clifton. Lorraine was a graduate of Newport News High School with the class of 1937. A resident of Windsor, for over 50 years, she was a communicant of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church in Hartford. Lorraine was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and longtime season ticket holder. She loved to read, crochet, work with home decorating and make crafts. Lorraine also had a love of the arts, which included opera and classical music. A kind, caring and loving mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed.
She leaves her children, Kathleen Bruyette and her husband, Leo of Exeter, N.H., Jane Whitney Ferguson of Pawtucket, R.I., Thomas M. Ferguson of Boise, Idaho, and Peter E. Ferguson and his wife, Alison of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; six grandchildren, Michael Bruyette and his wife, Kristin, Lauren and Nicole Bruyette, and Dylan, Elizabeth and Philip Ferguson, many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her lifelong best friend, Agnes O'Shea of Windsor; and her faithful caregiver, Galla Pinachyan.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Clifton.
Her family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, 285 Church St., Hartford, Conn. Burial will follow in Windsor Veteran's Memorial Cemetery.
