She attended Hilton Elementary, Warwick High and Newport News High Schools, and was a graduate of the College of William & Mary, with a B.S. in Business Administration and a master's degree in Education. She was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and Delta Kappa Gamma at William & Mary. She retired in 1993 from Poquoson Public Schools, after 23 years of teaching, and was a member of the Poquoson Retired Teachers Association. Gardening, her books, and her home were the center of her life.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Gerald Q. Pitchford Jr. and wife, Lyn; adopted brother, Clyde E. Pitchford; and special nephew, Michael Loviner.
A celebration of Margie's life will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson. Her wishes were that her cremains be scattered in Bennett's Creek, Poquoson, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Poquoson Retired Teachers Scholarship Fund (P.R.T.A.), 401 Bridgewood Dr., Yorktown, VA 23693.

Lynn and Jenny, I am so sorry to here of your Mothers passing. I have fond memories of being around your house as a teenager. Your Mom and Dad both were so fun and everyone was always welcome to pile in on the weekends. I hope you find comfort in all the memories that I am sure you and your brothers and especially your Dad have at this difficult time.

Lynn and family, I am saddened by the passing of Mrs. Freeman, I only got to know you and your Parents by being their aide for a short time. I always enjoyed helping them, as your Mother and I had very long educating talks, and your Dad, bless his heart he always wanted to be outside when weather permitted, and we would watch football games together or Westerns while your Mother would be reading in her chair. Mrs. Freeman will be sorely missed, just remember she is in God's House now and has no more pain.
My thoughts and prayers go out to you and everyone in the famiy.
God Bless

Our love and prayers go out to Jerry and all his family on the passing of Margie. Many wonderful memories we share with you at this time of sorrow. A poem to help you through this trying time.

He Will See Us Through

When we lose someone we love
A loss too great to bear
God sends us friends to comfort us
To show they deeply care.

In the dark hours of the night
When no one is around
It's when we feel the loneliest
And where God's love is found.

Like a soothing, healing balm
That console's our broken heart
Yet so much pain still lingers
Ripping our heart apart.

Just rest secure in God's love
Knowing He is by our side
He holds us close when feeling that
A part of us has died.

I know that God will listen
When words we need to say
And when we feel we need to cry
He is with us night and day.

Always waiting by our side
With arms open wide
As we pour out all our hurt
He is standing by our side.

The Lord loves us so very much
He will never leave us alone
And never forsake us in our need
To face the loss on our own.

He comforts us and strengthens us
Anoints us with Heavenly balms
And as the dawn breaks through the sky
We will awake in His loving arms.

Love,
Ginny and Bobby Bryant©
