NEWPORT NEWS - Marguerite Blake Mason, 81, passed away on Wednesday March 28, 2012, peacefully at home.
Born in Huntington, W.Va., she had been a Peninsula resident since 1930, where she raised a family and then worked for Hampton Chevrolet until she retired. Marguerite was a loving wife, mother and friend to all she met.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fredrick P. Blake and Ethel B. Blake; her siblings, A. Franklin Blake, Adair B. McCubbin and identical twin sister, Marjorie B. Mitchell.
Marguerite is survived by her husband of 61 years, Randall Vance Mason Sr.; her son, Randall Vance Mason Jr., and wife Sara, of Newport News; her daughters, Lisa Mason Ziegler and husband Steve, of Newport News and Suzanne Mason Frye and husband Mark, of Yorktown; her five grandchildren, Eric Mason, Blake Mason and wife Camela, Kelly LaBelle and husband Chris, Jake Frye, and Elora Frye: and four great-grandchildren.
A special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Sharpe-Warthan and Heartland Hospice for their compassion, guidance, and wonderful support through Marguerite's last days.
The burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012, at the Warwick River Mennonite Cemetery, all are welcome. A memorial service will follow at the Warwick River Mennonite Church at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at 250 Lucas Creek Road, Newport News, VA 23602.

My Dad told me the news of Marguerite's passing. My parents have had the privilege to have her as a dear friend for over 50 years. My prayers will be with you Randal, and I know all the beautiful lessons she taught Vance, Lisa, and Suzanne will live in their hearts a lifetime. A loving wife, mother, and friend....she lived her life well. My thoughts are with you all.

Suzanne and family, I'm so sorry for you loss. She was a great woman, wife and mother. I remember seeing and talking to her a school and girl scouts. My prayers are with you all.

"Mama Marguerite", as she was know to many of us, had a large impact on many who knew and worked with her. Her sense of love, compassion, and integrity, with an interest in the well-being of all, was a model for us.
I am proud to have known and loved her! God Bless her and family memmbers!

Dear Mason Family - thank you for making me a part of "yours" for all these years. I am blessed to have had "MOM" in my life. She mentored me through many things in Life and at times I didn't even realize it - now I do. Mrs. Mason - YOU - leave a Beautiful Legacy. See you "somewhere over the Rainbow" I bet your Wings look Beautiful on you :)

Marguerite was such a warm and loving person to all who knew her and was fondly called Mama Marguerite by many. I had the pleasure of working with Marguerite for about 7 years at Hampton Chevrolet. She will be missed.
