POQUOSON - Marie Temple Jones died on June 28, 2013, at the age of 95. She was born in Newland, NC on July 15, 1917, and has been a resident of Hampton and Poquoson since 1939. She was an active member of Memorial Baptist Church in Hampton since 1949, working as a secretary in the children's department, and a teller on the Teller's Committee. She was a member of the W.M.U. Society. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Willie Herbert Jones. She is survived by her son, Phillip N. Jones and wife, Linda of Union Hall, VA; her daughter, Gail J. Kurtz and husband, Allen of Poquoson; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, at 11 am at Parklawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Memorial Baptist Church Building Fund, 317 Lee Street, Hampton, VA, 23669. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the devoted employees of Dominion Village of Poquoson and Hospice Community Care.
