CUMMING, GA. - Nicholas (Nick) Harris Veneris, 97, passed into the care of the Lord on Oct. 9, 2011, at Cumming Manor and Nursing Home in Cumming, Ga.
Nick was born July 13, 1914, to the late Harris Nicholas Veneris and Irene Mentou Veneris, in Newport News, Va.
The funeral service will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Byars Funeral Home. Interment will follow Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, with a private graveside service. The Rev. Wallace Payne will be officiating.
Nick was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Newport News and had been a member of the AHEPA. Nick owned and operated Nick Veneris Plumbing and Heating and retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 540. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Dunedin, Fla., and then Nick moved to Cumming, Ga., to be near his daughter, Jackie.
Nick was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Virginia K. Hearn Veneris; his sisters, Carrie Veneris George and Stella Veneris Long; his brothers, George, Pete, and Thomas.
Survivors include his daughters, Ann Jacqueline Veneris Nelms (Darden) of Gainesville, Ga., June Carolyn Veneris Collie (Corkie) of Verona, Va., Patricia Lynn Veneris May (Allen) of Greenville, S.C.; sons, Harris Nicholas Veneris (Cathy) of Jacksonville Fla., and William Thomas Veneris (Carol) of Hampton, Va.; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks for all that Cumming Manor Assisted Living Facility and Agape Hospice Care Inc., did for their Dad.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a favorite charity.

Jackie, June, Nicky, Bill & Patsy--please accept my deepest sincere sympathy in the passing of your dad. I have many fond memories of times together in your home in Riverdale. Uncle Nick was always one of my favorate uncles. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

Jackie, June, Nickie, Billy, and Patsy. I remember your Dad well. Some of my fondest memories were when Jackie and I would hang around the Plumbing Company office. During this time of sorrow, keep in mind all the good times.
