HAYES - Helen Homa, 80, passed away October 31, 2017 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. She was born in New York April 15, 1937, a daughter of Michael and Anna Zihal. Helen was spunky, a generous giver, playful and fun-loving and a peace keeper. She loved decorating for the holidays, Christmas and anything to do with owls. She was a beloved mother, grandma (Nana), great grandma and great great grandma who was loved so much and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Peter Homa. She is survived by her children, Susanne (Curtis) Mayer, Jeffrey Ashberry, Stephen (Lorraine) Ashberry, Ruth Ashberry and Laurie Ashberry; her puppy, "Pepper"; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; and a sister, Mary Marte, of Massapequa, NY. A celebration of life service officiated by Reverend Phillip Herring will be 12 noon Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. Inurnment will be later at Florida Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at the funeral home.
