Thomas Foster Obituary

YORKTOWN - Thomas Elijah Foster 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Yorktown on October 27, 2017. Tom was born and raised in Hampton, Virginia. He retired from the United States Marine Corps after 20 years of service, and was a veteran of the WWII and Korean Wars. He also retired from Civil Service at Fort Monroe after 20 years of service. He was a Mason and a member of the Warwick Moose Lodge 1711. He was a loyal friend, never met a stranger, and was a true credit to the Greatest Generation. His family was the focal point of his life. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rose (Bert); children Brenda G. Cordell (Steven) of Gloucester, VA, Karen F. Foster (Bill Ward) of Winter Haven FL, Ronald T. Foster, and Carolyn L. Pierce (David) of Yorktown. He is also survived by grandchildren Todd M. Cooper (Dana), Thomas C. Cooper (Anne), Laurel R. Frye (Mark), Heather P. Greene (Aaron), David Ray Pierce, Jr., and five great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Amory Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The Funeral service will follow immediately at 11:00 a.m. An interment service with Military Honors will be at 2:00 p.m. at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. Arrangements are under the care of Amory Funeral Home, Grafton, VA.

Bert and Family, Dianne and I understand what a heartfelt loss it is to not have Tom with his family. He was truly one of the best family men of his Moose Lodge. His Veterans will miss the Pineapple up-side-down cake. The lodge will once again host the Veterans from the Hampton VA hospital on Thursday NOV 16, 2017 at 12:00 PM and it will be in honor of TOM, Retired United States Marine Corps, UHRA!
