HAMPTON - Richard J. Strickland, 69, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2016. He served in the United States Marine Corps., and was a Vietnam Veteran. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Alice & John Strickland; two brothers, William H. Strickland and Mitchell J. Strickland; and nephew, Jim. Survivors include his sister, Sylvia Strickland and husband, James E. of Hampton; brother, Dennis Strickland of Norfolk; nephew, Randy; two nieces, Lisa and Robin; one great-nephew, Trent; and one great-niece, Lauren. The family will receive friends at Peninsula Funeral Home on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with the service following at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Fund.

Very sorry to hear. We often lose touch with our friends from the past Richard was ac friend which was over 50 years ago. It is sad that we don't get together with our friends except for reunions I hope the family knows that many of us called Richard a good friend and regret his passingBill Hale

My deepest sympathy to the Strickland family. During my high school years, I was at his parents house more than mine with Pam Weaver - my BFF. His mom was like a mom to me - a wonderful family. Prayers and thoughts are with everyone at this time.
