Thomas Gaskins Family,
This is a very belated condolence, but I just found out today about Tommy's death. Was so sorry to hear. I lived right across the street from him, on 20th street. We played together quite a lot. I remember his dalmation dog Lucky. If there is anyway we can be of help to your family we would be happy to be of service. Our prayers are with you!

I remember Tom through a lot of good times and the many years we knew each other. We road together to Surry Power Station for quit a few years. Tom always let his fun side out no matter where he was and it showed in other people. He will be missed by many. My best for you Mary and his family, I remember you all very well.

I am sorry to hear of Tommy's passing. I'm one of those Hobbs kids who grew up with him, played with him and squabbled with him. This morning, I remembered an incident from when we were in the first grade that I think the family might be interested in reading about. I had to wear an eye patch on my right eye for a while and couldn't really see out of my left one. Every day after school, Tommy waited for me and took me by the hand and walked the six or seven blocks home with me so that I got there safely. I doubt that Mama paid him a nickel and I don't remember whether or not he really he wanted to hold a little girl's hand all the way home, but he did. I moved to CA in 1974 and didn't see him again, but Billy and I did speak of him in June 2007 when I was visiting. You can never forget childhood friends. I hope all of you find comfort during this time of grief.

Dear Gail, Harold, and family,

I wanted to come to the memorial service today but wasn't able to. I was so shocked to read about Tommy's death. Tommy was about a year older than me and it's been years since I last saw him.

I'm Tena Goodson Hensel's oldest daughter, Sherry. We all send our condolences to you and the family and will pray for you.

I know that momma and the family have fond memories of your parents and you all growing up. I'll always remember your family.

Please contact me via my email address if you would.

Sincerely,
Sherry Huycke

To The Gaskins Family,
I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Tom. I worked with him in the early 80's at Virginia Power in Security. He was a great friend and co-worker. I left Virginia Power in 1987, so it has been many years since I had seen or heard from him. When I opened my paper and saw his picture it saddened my spirit. May God be with you as you go through this very difficult time

My brother, sister and I grew up just a few doors from the Gaskins family. I have fond memories of him and the whole family. The best one is how he would ask our mom for a bisquit. I am so very sorry for the family's loss. Sandy Hobbs Harris
