I was very sad to hear of the passing of Coach Wilbur Thompson. It made me remember all the days at Warwick High School. The basketball games and the gathering of his friends at the local pub after the games. I loved to hang out at the coaches office with Wilbur, Coach Snow and Neil Hodges. We always had something to talk about and to kid around with each other. Wilbur was a teacher, a coach, and a friend to me and many others. He will be remembered and missed.

Coach Thompson was my brother Charles's basketball coach, and very dear friend of my parents and bother Norman. He and his wife took me into their home several times while I was growing up to look after me when my mother was very ill. They went out of their way to take me to school, activities, and pick me up to stay at their home. They made sure I did my homework and all the things my folks did on a regular basis. Many years later they attended my wedding, and still stayed in touch with members of my family, with Coach even calling my brother only a few months ago.He was a very nice man.
