JOE, SR, Arthur Arthur Fred Joe, Sr. was born October 16, 1925 in Palestine, Texas and passed away at the age of 95 on January 10, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. Arthur proudly served in the United States Navy and was a World War II Veteran. He was active in the civil rights movement and was a founding member of the civil rights organization Black Citizens for Justice, Law, and Order (BCJLO) in 1969. The Baylor University Institute for Oral History published his oral memoirs in 2015 documenting his civil rights activism in Texas. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Daisy E. Coleman Joe of Dallas; daughters, Barbara Joe-Jones of South Orange, New Jersey, Earnie A. Joe of Dallas, and son, Arthur F. Joe, Jr. of Dallas; 3 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 21,2021 from 1-5 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22nd in Restland Abbey Chapel. Masks must be worn, and strict social distancing protocols will be observed.
