OTTINGER, David Bentley David Bentley Ottinger was born in Dallas, TX on April 15, 1970. He died in Dallas on September 24, 2020. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Ottinger, his beloved grandparents, Mozelle and Paul Bentley, as well as his Uncle Jimmy Bentley. He is survived by his father Jim Ottinger, step-mother Charlotte and step-brother, Lyle Waisman, as well as many extended members of family. David's celebration of life will be held at Grove Hill Funeral Home on October 17, 2020 at 1 p.m. David enjoyed cars and worked in the industry, as well as spending many hours in car-related hobbies. His other life-long passion was the care and rescue of dogs, especially boxers. He fostered boxers and was a volunteer at several rescue organizations. He'd drive hours to pick up dogs and bring at risk, senior and injured boxers for medical treatment, new placement, etc. In his later years David had many health issues and yet, he never gave up hope of having a better life. David was in the process of moving to Texarkana, to live near his long-time friends, when he died. He will be sorely missed by all who loved and knew him. In David's memory, please contribute to the American Diabetes Association or your local animal rescue organization.

I wish I had spent more time with David in high school. We met later in life. He was generous, kind, insightful and ready to lend a helpful hand. Rest In Peace David. I’ll miss our conversations and your thoughtfulness. I count you as a blessing in my life. Thank you.

To my sweet friend - David Ottinger - you were so many things to me, but most of all, through the years, you were my BFF/PIA. You were my confidante, my sounding board and my rock! My heart aches at the loss of you! God bless you my sweet friend. You’ll be missed for eternity! Not many people understood you, but for those that took the time saw your amazing, dedicated heart for those you loved . I will always remember Sharky’s (best pool hall ever), Barbie Jeeps being put together after midnight on Christmas Eve, racing down highways in your mustang, laying on the dock with our feet in the water gazing at the stars, being serenaded to James Taylor - I’ve Seen Fire and I’ve Seen Rain! There are too many moments and memories to list, but your absence will always be felt in my heart. I love you David Ottinger! XO
