SHARRY, Frank 1923 2018 Frank Sharry of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully December 18, 2018 after a short illness. He was the devoted husband of Vera Sharry for 72 years and a loving and proud father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was born January 5, 1923 in New York City. He graduated from New York University in 1947 with a degree in accounting and received his MBA from New York University in 1953. Frank enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and served as a lieutenant in the Navy until 1946 and as a Naval Reserve until 1952. Frank began his career at Peat Marwick Mitchell in New York City. He continued his career in international finance at U. S. Steel (USX) in NYC and Pittsburgh, PA for 25 years until his retirement in 1985. Frank and Vera married in 1945 and lived in NYC until 1960 when they moved to Syosset, NY. Frank volunteered as a coach for his sons' baseball and basketball teams. An avid traveler, Frank was able to travel the world through his career and enjoyed taking the family on vacations. In retirement, Frank enjoyed playing golf and volunteering as a tax preparer. Most of all, Frank loved his family and friends, who will miss his wit, caring, and compassion. Married almost 73 years, Frank is survived by his wife, Vera and his children John Sharry (Garland, TX); Michael Sharry and his wife Jan (Dallas, TX); Irene Hallam and husband Charles (Coppell, TX); and Susan Hoppe and husband Jerry (Thiells, NY); and grandchildren, Jessica, Greg (Hillary), Katy (Jeremy), Melanie, Kristina, Michelle, Kara, and Kenny. He is also survived by two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his grandson, Kyle. He will be interned in a private ceremony at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, NY where his parents are buried. Memorial donations may be made to Friends of the National World War II Memorial.
