Joyce Boyer Obituary

BOYER, Joyce Joyce Elaine Foltz Boyer died on December 29, 2019 at the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Dallas, TX. The third daughter of Lester (Tom) and Ruth (Wolfe) Foltz, she was born on October 30, 1938, in Arkansas City, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Irene Pack and Marjorie Cochran, and infant brother, John Foltz. In 1968, she met William (Bill) Boyer, a widower with two young children. They married July 3, 1968, and moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma. In 1976, they moved to Dallas. Joyce taught for 16 years at J. J. Pearce High School and retired in 2001. She was an active member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church for more than 40 years. Joyce is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bill; their children, Scott Boyer; Stacy Brown, and husband, Peter, of Flower Mound, TX; and she was Nana to her two grandchildren, Ethan and Hope Brown. She is also survived by her sisters, Carolyn Hale of Stafford, VA; Donna Newell of Euless, TX; numerous brothers/sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins, and her "Family of Friends," the Seekers Class. The family would like to thank the Seekers Class, SVUMC, friends and neighbors for their love and support. Our sincere gratitude goes to everyone at T. Boone Pickens Hospice, who not only cared for Joyce, but our entire family. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in memory of Joyce Boyer to the SVUMC Foundation (7700 Spring Valley Road, Dallas, TX 75240); or the T. Although we did not not know her well, we knew how important she was to Stacy, Peter Hope and Ethan. She was a light in their lives and a wonderful grandmother. Our thoughts and our prayers are with as you celebrate her life! God be with you during this time and keep you in His care.

Aunt Joyce brought so much joy into the lives of my mom and Grandma Irene. She was a great role model to me of a strong bold woman. My life is better for having known her.
