DIGGS, Elmer Dale Elmer Dale Diggs, 86, of Plano, Texas, passed on to join his wife and daughter on January 16th 2020 to be in his Heavenly Father's presence. He was born in Idabel, Oklahoma, on October 23, 1933 to Elmer & Myrtle Diggs. Elmer graduated from Oklahoma State University and joined the Air Force in 1956, eventually attaining the rank of Captain. He started his civilian career at IBM in 1960, moving up to Manager of Field Programming before accepting the Chief Court Administrator position at the City of Dallas. Elmer was an avid Scouting volunteer and leader of Troop 300 in Plano. He served with the Texas Baptist Men and was a Deacon at First Baptist Church of Plano. He enjoyed hunting & fishing and had a serious passion for football. Elmer always had a smile on his face and a funny story to tell. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. Elmer had a great love and devotion to his wife, Darlene of 57 years, and children, Mark, Darla, and Paul. He was very close to his surviving three sisters, Juanita Brown, Becky Billingsley, both of Idabel, OK, and LaVita Folken of Farmington, MN. Elmer had many lifelong dear friends, including Jimmy Billingsley, who married his youngest sister. The lights of his life were his 3 granddaughters, Windsar, Sterling, and Lauren. He has been blessed with 6 great grand children and a large family that love him dearly. Elmer Diggs is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene Diggs, and his darling daughter, Darla Hollingshead (buggy-boo). Elmer, above all, loved the Lord with all his heart, and his proudest accomplishment was to be a loving, caring father and husband. He was a great dad. Memorial Service will be held Monday Jan 20th at 11am. First Baptist Church of Plano Chapel, 1300 East 15th Street, Plano, TX 75074

Elmer and I were coworkers at IBM Subsidiary, SBC, and in Data Services at the City of Dallas and we were close friends for 58 years. I've never known a finer person and I had great respect and admiration for him. I'll miss him, his sense of humor, his guidance and his friendship.
