Robert and I were buddies at Travis High in Austin. We used to traipse around the Hill Country together, west of the town, with other pals. There's a picture of us with Richard Bothmer and Dick Vilven
on our graduation night in 1957, enjoying the moment, but having no real clue of what lay in store for us--except we had one more summer of city league baseball. Along with a couple of other Travis buddies, Joe Joseph and Wayne Peschka, we won the city championship. Robert had starred on the Travis High team, & was a superb player, and without his hitting (.389) and pitching (2-0) we probably would not have made it. We all went our separate ways, but got back in touch eventually. We discovered that we had markedly different political beliefs, but Robert had such a great sense of humor about it. He had that same quick wit about him that I remembered from high school, before we had any political opinions. I am glad we were able to enjoy the moment once more. I will miss him. Unfortunately Richard Botherer and I will be in Washington, DC
Sept. 15 with two other Travis chums, Jody Hanke and Jo Dittmar (using maiden names), but we will have a remembrance of Robert on that day. George Green, Arlington, Texas

Robert and I were Revenue Officers at IRS in Dallas in the early nineties. He was a friend and mentor who I missed when he retired. He will surely be missed by his family and all who knew him.
