George Revelos Obituary

REVELOS, George Charles Passed away peacefully on Saturday February 17, 2018 at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant. He was born on March 6, 1930, the son of Constantine and Sophia Revelos who both had emigrated from Greece. His father, who died in 1935, was a partner with his brothers in the Elite Ice Cream and Candy Shops. At the age of twelve, his uncles employed George washing dishes, soda jerking and working in the ice cream and candy facilities. In 1950 he and his cousins purchased the business and ran it until it was closed in 1988. During that time George was responsible for advertising, merchandizing, sales and manufacturing. After the candy business George successfully worked in sales for Riverview Packaging Company for twenty-two years. A graduate of Middletown High School class of 1948, George attended Miami University and also served in the Army in the Korean War. He was a longstanding member of the ST. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church where he served as altar boy, church council member and for 46 years worked at the Greek Festival, including Chairman in the early years. George's favorite pastime was golf and he was a member of the Wildwood Golf Club for 47 years. He was fortunate to have five holes-in-one all during member guest tournaments. When George could no longer play he was made a life time member. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the YMCA and other charitable organizations. George was a kind man with a great sense of humor who had a love of jazz and all types of sports. George was predeceased by his loving wife of 23 years Ann Jeanette Coughlin; his parents; and his sister Bea Revelos. He is survived by his sisters Zella Cooney and Mary Skalkos; step daughters Dallas Gonzales and Robbie Tomlinson (Bradly); their children Emma and Tess; nephew Gus Skalkos; niece Dianne Fitton (Woody); their children Vaden and Andrew; and his favorite godson Bill Revelos. A memorial service will be held at Wilson-Schramm-Spaulding Funeral Home, 3805 Roosevelt Blvd. at Bonita Dr., Middletown, Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11:00 am with Father William Cassis officiating. Military services will be conducted by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard at the funeral home. A reception following the memorial service will be held at Wildwood Golf Club, 601 Aberdeen Dr., Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Great Miami Valley YMCA, 1020 Manchester Ave, Middletown, OH 45042 or St Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2500 Grand Ave, Middletown, OH 45044. Rip you will be remembered ❤

February 22, 2018

As a little girl, I remember going to Elite's, both on Central Avenue and Crawford Street. George was a young man at the time, but he was always so friendly to everyone, even the children! Elite's remains one of my best childhood memories!

Jim and I will miss George a lot, but especially his sense of humor. He loved to laugh and make others happy. He brightened every room he entered. We thank him for his generosity of spirit. The world needs more people like him.
