SHEARD, Merle E. Age 81 of Hamilton passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the Woodlands of Hamilton. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 14, 1936, the son of Robert and Ella (Lindy) Sheard and was a 1955 graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School. On August 11, 1956, in St. Peter in Chains Church he married Mary Carolyn Di Staola. Merle was employed at Champion International for 43 years retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Peter in Chains Church, the Knights of Columbus Father Butler Council, and the Monkey Mutual Aid Society. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; son, Mike (Diana) Sheard. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Therese Sheard; two brothers; two sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00AM Wednesday in St. Peter in Chains Church, 382 Liberty Ave, Hamilton, OH 45013 followed by entombment in St. Stephen Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00am Wednesday in the church. Zettler Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter in Chains Church or the Hamilton Community Foundation c/o the MLFCAF (The Maureen Fritsch Cancer Assistance Fund) 319 N. Third St. Hamilton, Ohio 45011.
