JELLISON (Frick), Kathleen Elizabeth Daughter of Hobart G. and Helen Wright Frick, was born April 19, 1924, in Dubois County, Indiana. Upon graduation from high school in Indianapolis, she enrolled at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where she met and married Richard Jellison, also a student at the University. Her education was put on hold to raise a family, but she returned to her academic pursuits at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and in 1963 she received a Baccalaureate degree. In 1975, she completed a Master's degree in Library Science at Ball State University. She began her professional career as a member of the library staff of Western College for Women in Oxford, Ohio where she served for four years. She then accepted the position of Librarian for the College Corner Public School of Preble County, Ohio in 1979, a position she held for seventeen years until her retirement in 1985. In addition to her devotion to family and profession, she was a life-long golf and bridge enthusiast. But her real passion was art. She was active as a Docent at the Art Museum of Miami University and visited many of the leading museums throughout the world. Although she rarely acknowledged the fact, she was quite accomplished in Japanese brush painting. Her work in the field won high praise from all and was greatly prized by those who were fortunate enough to receive one of her paintings. She and her husband traveled widely in retirement and enjoyed an active social life. Mrs. Jellison is preceded in death by Richard Jellison, her husband of 68 years. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Judith Jellison of Kansas City, Missouri; a daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Gerald Broshear of Naples, Florida; a daughter and son-in-law Leslie and Jeffrey Korhan of Chicago, Illinois; four granddaughters, four grandsons, and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 22 at 5 PM at the Ogle & Paul R. Young Funeral home (Oxford, Ohio) with a reception to follow at the Oxford Country Club. Should friends desire, donations may be made in Kathleen's honor to the Miami University Art Museum Commemorative Fund 1787-001, Miami University Advancement Services, 926 Chestnut Lane, Oxford, OH 45056.
